Bixby Criminal Court Judge Rules
Section 5.3 of the Bixby City Charter sets strict requirements for the municipal judge. The judge must be licensed to practice law in Oklahoma and have at least five years of actual legal experience before appointment. The city council appoints the judge, and the council sets the salary. The judge cannot hold any other office or job with the City of Bixby while serving.
The municipal judge has original jurisdiction to hear and decide all cases involving offenses against the Bixby charter and city ordinances. The judge can administer oaths, make and enforce orders, rules, and judgments. The court clerk must file a monthly report to the city council at least five days before the monthly meeting. That report includes the number of cases heard, a breakdown of violation types for citations issued, and the disposition of cases that have been open for more than 90 days.
Bixby Court Citation Dismissals
Court appearance is not required for all offenses in Bixby. For select offenses, advance payment is accepted on or before the scheduled court date. If paying on the court date, do it during business hours between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the payment counter or online.
If you got a citation for no insurance but had valid coverage at the time, you may have the ticket dismissed. Bring proof of insurance and your citation to the Court Clerk's Office at 111 N. Cabaniss Ave. between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. If insurance was obtained after the ticket was issued, you still must appear in court on the scheduled date. For expired tag tickets, show proof of current registration and pay court costs. In most cases, a court appearance will not be needed.

Bixby Alive at 25 Program
The Alive at 25 program is a defensive driving course developed by the National Safety Council. The Bixby Police Department, in partnership with the Oklahoma Safety Council and Bixby Municipal Court, runs the program for drivers ages 15 to 24.
